IDinLondon presents – Functional Programming & Risk Based Modelling @ MarketInvoice

Hi everyone, as I am sure you know by now we’ve recently partnered with MarketInvoice for our events (and because Adam is working there on-site hiring for excellent developers!) and as it has been a while since we arranged an Inter-group tech talks we thought it would be a good idea to get everyone together before Christmas.

The guys at MarketInvoice have bravely stepped forward and offered their technical expertise for the evening and we will be hearing 2 x talks:

From Jason Dryhurst-Smith:
FUNctional Programming: In this short, and hopefully amusing, talk I will present some key differences between an object oriented approach and a functional approach to solving problems. I’ll give some opinions on why I think functional programming is absolutely the perfect tool for some jobs, but is by no means the ‘golden hammer’ for all your coding woes.

From Hendrik Brackmann:
Risk modelling at MarketInvoice
abstract: This talk will give an overview of how MarketInvoice uses real-time risk-scoring. Most of the talk will be focussed on how MarketInvoice is using modern technology to offer better prices to our customers. The talk will touch on how machine learning is used to achieve this goal as well as the challenges we faced when we we implemented the system to work in real time.

We’re also lining up a talk from a CTO at another London based startup on the night, details will be released soon.

Look forward to seeing you all at the event!

Adam & the IDinLondon team

The talk will be held on 26th November 2015 at 6.45pm at the MarketInvoice offices: Hogarth House, 136 High Holborn, London, WC1V 6PX.
If you get stuck finding the office free to call me (Adam) on 07841825546.

Introducing ID London

What are we all about? Well it’s very simple really.

Building Communities

Many developers arrive in London from foreign countries and English is often not their 1st language. So finding your way around or a nice place to live can be difficult – our aim is to connect developers in a friendly environment where they can make new friends and discuss the latest technology trends.

Freethinking

We are agnostic in terms of development skills, and have seen a broad range of technical skills from C# developers to Java developers, C++ Developers, Database Engineers, Mobile developers and so on.  As long as you are a development professional we are delighted to have you at our venues!

Making Connections

It’s difficult enough settling into a new city, so finding someone who you can talk to about their experiences in relocating is beneficial. Whilst recruitment isn’t anywhere on the agenda, if needed we can help you to find a job here in London with your well-honed development skills.

Testimonials

We’ve helped hundreds settle here in London.

  • As organizer of the Italian Developers in London's Meetup, Adam is doing an incredible job. He can arrange either informal or technical events in a very friendly and stimulating environment. I think he is helping a lot of people in putting them together and allows them to share experiences.

  • I met Adam earlier this year when I came to London (from Brazil) and was looking for a new position. He really helped me to understand the London market, as well as some tips on my CV and interviewing techniques. I was scared about the interview process here in London! Adam's help was fundamental for me to understand the local market and I am so grateful to him. He works really hard not only on recruitment, but also on our language specific community - thanks Adam!
